Germany: Immigration Reform For Skilled Labour

REGISTRATION

In an effort to compensate for the skilled labour shortage, Germany has passed a new immigration bill which creates and expands immigration pathways for skilled workers from non-EU countries. The first parts of the reform entered into force on November 18, 2023. The second parts will enter into force on March 1, 2024.

Join Fragomen on 5 March, for an informative update on the reforms and the impacts of these. We will provide an overview of key changes including:

• Extended access to German labor market for holders of student permits
• Extended option for highly skilled workers to bring their parents to Germany
• Newly created immigration option for skilled workers; and
• The reduction of the period of required residence in Germany to qualify for permanent residence
